Accomplishments
Solution Design
- Directed
10 member team in developing network, PC and thin client product offering
for airline industry called Airline in a Boxä.
Resulting business plan and product development spanned internal business
structures, company wide.
- Technical
lead coordinating IT investigations with upper level Managers for due
diligence survey in a 20 plus million dollar out source project in El
Salvador, El Salvador. Designed implementation plan and process
integration schedule for program delivery.
- Designed
multi-million dollar migration package for Northwest Airlines 33 country
maintenance contract to upgrade existing terminal equipment to PC open
protocol network infrastructure.
- Designed and delivered remote
management and login system for off site stock trading. System was used
for trade show demonstrations.
IS Security
- Create
Certification and Accreditation documentation with adherence to OMB, HHS,
NIST, FIPS, CDC, and OCISO guidance for 200 plus systems for the Coordinating Center for Infectious Diseases.
- Calculate
Risk Assessment level from 12 different threat vectors specific to the
system. Other parameters such as system environment, development criteria,
technology involved, version and patch levels, all play a part in what
risk is assigned.
- Liaison
between OCISO and CCID security team managers and leadership to coordinate
security policies, goals and methods between organizations.
- Critique
security controls, policy and procedures to evaluate the accuracy and
applicability with individual, as well as campus wide system security
implementation plans.
- Perform
System Security Assessment, Risk Analysis, & Remediation Solutions for
Information Technology in the CDC environment as needed; reports,
recommends and verifies remediation programs as required.
- Understand,
identify, translate and interpret OMB/HHS/NIST/OCISO security requirements
to recognize implementation and deployment effectiveness to defend against
security vulnerabilities and attacks.
LAN/WAN Implementation
- Configured
and upgraded all computer equipment from desktop to back-end servers for 11
international locations.
- Managed
the implementation of a LAN/WAN infrastructure using Frame Relay, FDDI,
Fiber Optic and Cisco equipment integrating legacy IBM main frame data
base systems and proprietary software.
- Upgraded
from main frame terminals to PC work stations with TCP/IP over frame
relay, Integrated NT servers, software applications, and management
stations over the wide area network.
- Implemented
a VPN solution via the Internet to enable a secure connection between a
remote location and corporate headquarters.
- Involved
in day-to-day operation of Novell (4.X) network in addition to migration to
an all IP network from a Novell 3.x IPX protocol.
Help Desk Management
- Managed
service calls for 2 concurrent network infrastructures including
unclassified and secret security levels. Managed technical support for 8 Pacific Rim locations with similar infrastructures.
- Directed
10 subordinates for maintaining 250 plus secret and unclassified (Novell
4.0, Microsoft Windows 3.11/95/98/NT) workstations operating USN
proprietary Satellite imagery and weather data.
- Designed,
implemented and administered 3 tier help desk, reporting system including
operational fax service request system, on call, emergency, data back up,
contingency, restore procedures and asset tracking methodologies. (450
plus users).
- Managed
2 separate Northwest Airlines global help desk reporting systems for
resource allocation and priority tracking components. The contract
included 33 countries primarily in Asia.
Internet Technology
- Developed
and implemented Mid-Pacific Discount Broker (MIDPACDiscount.com) site for
real time stock trades and account access for traders throughout the Pacific rim.
·Developed regional pre-sales team web site and coordinated integration
with global site. Knowledge management data base resulted in improved reporting
and team communication.
·Design, create and publish numerous customer web presence. .Examples

·Designed and implemented secure remote access connectivity with in
house accounting system.
Training and Development
- Coordinated
product integration training between pre-sales and manufacturing teams. Designed
and produced all training materials and presented all classes in the
program.
- Scheduled
and taught all users and technical classes for United Airlines projects in
Frankfurt Germany, Lima, Peru, Caracas Venezuela, Guatemala, Guatemala, Santiago, Chile, and Mexico City, Mexico.
- Wrote
operators training manual, scheduled and delivered United Airlines project training program for London, England, and Paris, France.
- Developed
technology operation, preventive and repair maintenance training programs
for the Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Center (NAVPACMETOCCEN).
- Established
departmental training program, including record keeping, scheduling and
accreditation for the Data Systems department. Scheduled and delivered
weekly training.
